OneSignal alternatives, priced at 1,000 and 10,000 monthly active users.
OneSignal is a push-first customer messaging platform that bills by monthly active users: free up to 1,000 MAU for mobile push and in-app, then a Growth plan from $19 a month plus $0.012 per mobile MAU and $0.004 per web push subscriber. Teams look for OneSignal alternatives when a large, lightly messaged audience makes the MAU meter expensive, when they want one workflow across email, SMS, push, chat and an in-app inbox through their own providers, or when they only need raw push delivery and no platform at all.
This page lists six of them. For each one it says what the meter counts, what the free plan includes, where the first paid plan starts and who it suits, then puts them side by side in one table at 1,000 and 10,000 monthly active users. Every price was read off the vendor's own pricing page on November 8, 2026, and each section links that page. For Notifly against OneSignal alone, see Notifly vs OneSignal and OneSignal pricing in 2026.
Verified by the Notifly team: every price on this page was read off the vendor's own pricing page that day, and each section links it.
How the prices on this page were worked out
OneSignal and Pushwoosh meter people: the bill is the number of monthly active users, whatever you send them. Knock and MagicBell count every message or delivery, Courier counts sends, and Notifly counts the workflow event that starts a notification. To put them on one table, the page assumes a product that sends each active user four notifications a month on one channel, so 1,000 MAU means 4,000 sends and 10,000 MAU means 40,000. Send more per user and the per-message vendors get dearer while the MAU vendors do not; send less and the reverse.
Prices are the vendors' published self-serve list prices in US dollars, checked on November 8, 2026 at the pages linked in each section. Enterprise plans have no published price and are left out. Delivery fees from the email, SMS and push providers you connect are separate on the platforms that use them, and are not included.
Notifly
Notifly is hosted notification infrastructure with one API for email, SMS, mobile and web push, in-app inbox and chat, a visual workflow editor with digest, delay and throttle steps, and the team features on an ordinary paid plan. It meters trigger events, not people: subscribers are unlimited on every plan, and one workflow run is one event however many channels it reaches. The Free plan includes 10,000 events a month with no card, Pro is $19 a month for 50,000 events, and Team is $149 a month for 500,000 with role-based access control, translations, custom environments and unlimited members. See pricing.
Pick it when your audience is large but each person hears from you a few times a month, or when push is one channel of a workflow that also sends email, SMS, chat and in-app. Look elsewhere when you want a marketing team's campaign tooling, such as journeys, A/B tests and segment builders, on top of delivery; Notifly is infrastructure your product triggers.
Knock
Knock is a hosted notification API for product teams with a workflow editor, an in-app feed and an in-app guides product. It bills per message: 10,000 messages a month on Free, then Starter at $250 a month for 50,000 messages and $0.005 for each one after that, with SAML SSO, SCIM, custom roles and translations on Enterprise (knock.app/pricing). Unlimited team members on every plan.
Pick it when you want a polished developer-first workflow product with in-app guides from the same vendor and seats are not a constraint. Look elsewhere when the jump from $0 to $250 is too steep for your volume, or you need roles and translations without an Enterprise contract. See Notifly vs Knock and the Knock alternatives round-up.
Courier
Courier is a notification API with a visual template designer, a free Developer plan of 10,000 sends a month and a Business plan at $0.005 per send with no platform fee (courier.com/pricing). A send is one notification to one recipient across whatever channels it reaches, including push through your own FCM, APNs or Expo credentials. Role-based access control and the audit trail are listed under Enterprise.
Pick it when your volume is modest and non-engineers own the templates. Look elsewhere when you pass about 50,000 sends a month, where $0.005 a send is $250, or when you need roles below Enterprise. See Notifly vs Courier and Courier pricing in 2026.
MagicBell
MagicBell is an in-app notification inbox with mobile and web push, email and Slack delivery behind it, strongest as a drop-in inbox for React, Svelte, Preact and Web Components. Its Builder plan is $0 for 1,000 deliveries a month, and its next plan, Startup, is $249 a month for 50,000 deliveries, then $0.0025 each (magicbell.com/pricing).
Pick it when the in-app inbox is the product and push is a companion to it. Look elsewhere when you send more than 1,000 deliveries a month but far fewer than 50,000: there is no plan between $0 and $249. See Notifly vs MagicBell.
Pushwoosh
Pushwoosh is the closest like-for-like OneSignal alternative on this page: a push-first customer engagement platform with mobile and web push, in-app messages, email, SMS and WhatsApp, billed by monthly active users. It is free up to 1,000 MAU; the Push-only plan is $7 per 1,000 MAU a month and the Omnichannel plan is $13 per 1,000 MAU, with 20 email sends per MAU included and $1.50 per 1,000 after that (pushwoosh.com/pricing).
Pick it when you want OneSignal's shape of product, campaigns to a consumer app audience, at a lower per-MAU rate. Look elsewhere when the audience is large and lightly messaged, since the MAU meter has the same shape as OneSignal's, or when the job is product-triggered workflows across your own providers.
Firebase Cloud Messaging
Firebase Cloud Messaging is Google's push delivery service for Android, iOS and the web, listed as no-cost on both Firebase's Spark and Blaze plans (firebase.google.com/pricing). It is not a platform: there are no workflows, templates, preferences, an inbox or analytics beyond delivery reports, and you write and operate the code that decides who gets what, when. Most of the platforms on this page, Notifly included, send their Android push through FCM; the FCM integration guide shows how it connects.
Pick it when push is the only channel, your backend already knows what to send, and you are comfortable owning retries, token hygiene and a 4,096-byte payload limit yourself (see push notification limits). Look elsewhere when you want in-app messaging, email or SMS alongside push, or any workflow logic you do not have to build.
What each one costs at 1,000 and 10,000 monthly active users
Four notifications per active user per month on one channel: 4,000 sends at 1,000 MAU, 40,000 at 10,000 MAU. Published self-serve prices, read on November 8, 2026; provider delivery fees not included.
| Tool | 1,000 MAU | 10,000 MAU | What the bill counts |
|---|---|---|---|
| OneSignal | $0 (Free, up to 1,000 MAU) | $139 (Growth, $19 + $0.012 × 10,000 MAU) | Monthly active users |
| Notifly | $0 (Free, 10,000 events) | $19 (Pro, 50,000 events) | Trigger events, subscribers unlimited |
| Knock | $0 (Free, 10,000 messages) | $250 (Starter, 50,000 messages) | Messages, one per channel reached |
| Courier | $0 (Developer, 10,000 sends) | $200 (Business, $0.005 × 40,000 sends) | Sends, one per recipient |
| MagicBell | $249 (Startup; Builder stops at 1,000 deliveries) | $249 (Startup, 50,000 deliveries) | Deliveries |
| Pushwoosh | $0 (free up to 1,000 MAU) | $70 Push-only or $130 Omnichannel ($7 or $13 × 10) | Monthly active users |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | $0 | $0 | Nothing; delivery only, you build the rest |
The OneSignal figure is the Growth calculator's own arithmetic for mobile MAU only, with no web push subscribers and under 20,000 email sends (onesignal.com/pricing). Add web push at $0.004 a subscriber, or email past 20,000 sends at $1.50 per 1,000, and it rises from there.
Where OneSignal still wins
OneSignal is a marketing team's tool as much as an engineer's: journeys, A/B testing, segments, a template editor and analytics for push and in-app campaigns come with the platform, and when each user hears from you many times a month the MAU meter is cheaper than any per-message vendor on this page. It also includes 20,000 email sends on Growth where the others leave email to your provider. If campaign tooling and a high per-user send rate describe your product, OneSignal or Pushwoosh is the honest recommendation, and the Notifly vs OneSignal page says so in more detail.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest OneSignal alternative?
At 10,000 monthly active users sending four notifications each on one channel, Firebase Cloud Messaging is free but delivers push only, with no platform around it. Among the platforms, Notifly's $19 Pro plan is the lowest published price on this page, followed by Pushwoosh's Push-only plan at $70. Prices were read on November 8, 2026.
Which OneSignal alternatives are free up to 1,000 users?
Pushwoosh is free up to 1,000 MAU, like OneSignal. Notifly, Knock and Courier are free by volume instead, 10,000 events, messages or sends a month, which at four notifications per user covers 2,500 users. MagicBell's Builder plan covers 1,000 deliveries, about 250 users at the same rate. Firebase Cloud Messaging is free at any size.
Is Firebase Cloud Messaging a real OneSignal alternative?
For push delivery alone, yes, and at no cost. For what OneSignal actually sells, campaigns, in-app messages, segments, email and analytics, no: FCM delivers the message your code decides to send, and everything else is yours to build. Notifly, Knock, Courier and MagicBell all send Android push through FCM underneath.
Does Notifly cap monthly active users or subscribers?
No. Notifly meters trigger events, so subscribers are unlimited on every plan including Free. OneSignal's Free plan caps mobile push and in-app at 1,000 monthly active users, and Growth bills per MAU from the first user.
Do these prices include sending costs?
OneSignal and Pushwoosh include push delivery in the MAU price and some email sends on their paid plans. Notifly, Knock, Courier and MagicBell deliver through provider accounts you connect, such as SendGrid, Twilio or Firebase Cloud Messaging, which bill you separately at their own rates; FCM itself is free.
How do I move from OneSignal to Notifly?
Create a free workspace, connect FCM and APNs with your own credentials, import your users as subscribers with their device tokens, rebuild each push as a workflow step, then trigger it with POST /v1/events/trigger. The Notifly vs OneSignal page has the step-by-step migration section.
See it on your own workflows.
One POST /v1/events/trigger for email, SMS, push, in-app and chat. 10,000 events a month, free, no card.
