How much does Courier cost in 2026?

Short answer. Courier costs $0 on its Developer plan, which includes 10,000 sends a month, and $0.005 per send on its Business plan, which bills every send. At high volume that is $500 a month for 100,000 email or SMS sends and $5,000 for 1,000,000. A send is one template to one recipient, so an email and an SMS in the same send count once. Your email and SMS providers bill you separately, on top, with Courier and with Notifly alike. Enterprise has no published price.

What does Courier cost for high-volume email and SMS?

Courier's Business plan has one meter and one rate: $0.005 for every send, with no seat or channel fees and no published volume tiers (billing docs). The monthly bill is sends × $0.005, so it grows in a straight line. Courier's own examples are $250 at 50,000 sends, $1,000 at 200,000 and $5,000 at 1,000,000. The table works the same formula for the volumes people ask about, beside what the same number of Notifly events costs on its published plans:

Sends a monthCourier planFormulaCourier, per monthNotifly, same count of events
10,000DeveloperWithin the free allowance$0Free: $0 a month
50,000Business50,000 × $0.005$250Pro: $19 a month
100,000Business100,000 × $0.005$500Team: $149 a month
250,000Business250,000 × $0.005$1,250Team: $149 a month
500,000Business500,000 × $0.005$2,500Team: $149 a month
1,000,000Business1,000,000 × $0.005$5,000On request: Write to sales@notifly.io

The free-tier cliff. 10,000 sends a month is $0; 10,001 sends is $50.005, about $50, because Business bills every send, the first 10,000 included, not only the ones past the allowance.

Three things sit outside the table. First, the Developer row is the free plan only: from 10,001 sends a month, or as soon as a card is on file, the workspace is on Business and every send is billed. Second, the Courier column is the send bill alone; AI credits and Device Preview bill on top. Third, Courier publishes no price for Enterprise, so there is no figure for volumes where you would negotiate; Notifly's largest self-serve plan, Team, covers 500,000 events, and anything above it is sized on request (sales@notifly.io).

Email and SMS together

Take 100,000 notifications a month, each going to one user by email and by SMS. Courier counts a template sent to a recipient as one send however many channels it uses, so that is 100,000 sends, $500 a month. On Notifly it is 100,000 events, which Team covers at $149. Neither figure includes what your email provider charges for the emails or your SMS provider for the text segments; those are billed to you directly and are the same on both products.

A broadcast to a list changes the arithmetic. Courier counts a send to a list once per recipient, so 10,000 notifications to a list of 50 users are 500,000 sends, $2,500 a month. Count recipients, not notifications, before you size a Courier bill.

What are Courier's pricing plans?

Courier sells three plans. Two are priced in public; Enterprise is quoted by its sales team (pricing).

PlanPriceSends includedBeyond the allowanceWhat the plan adds
DeveloperFree10,000 a monthAdd a credit card to move to BusinessJourneys and broadcasts, MCP server, CLI and SDKs, SSO via Google and GitHub, email and chat support
Business$0.005 per sendNone: every send is billed, the first 10,000 included$0.005 per send, no tiers or caps publishedEverything in Developer, plus AI Translations, the AI agent node and cross-device email testing
EnterpriseCustomCustomVolume pricing below $0.005 per send, not publishedRole-based access control, observability integrations, a dedicated Slack channel and an enterprise SLA

Courier publishes no monthly or annual platform fee: the pricing page lists none, and its billing docs describe the bill as sends, AI credits and Device Preview only. The pricing page also says there are no per-seat fees and no channel add-on fees, so a teammate or a channel never changes the bill. Enterprise is described as volume pricing below $0.005 per send, quoted by sales (billing docs). Courier's own pages disagree on where EU data residency sits: the pricing card lists it under Business, while the page's structured data puts it on Enterprise. This page does not place it on either plan.

What counts as a send on Courier?

The meter is defined in Courier's billing docs:

  • One send is one template sent to one recipient. One email to one person is 1; a template that delivers an email, a push and a Slack message to the same person is also 1.
  • Lists count per recipient. One send to a list of 100 users is 100 sends; one send to three email addresses is 3.
  • Delivery does not matter. A send counts whether or not the provider delivers it. Bounced messages and messages a user's preferences block are billed too.
  • Test traffic counts. Sends made with a Test key, and sends from custom environments, are billed the same as production sends.
  • Every channel is in the price. The in-app inbox has no fee of its own beyond the send.

The practical effect is that fan-out across channels to one user costs nothing extra on Courier, while broadcasts to large lists, and any test sends you leave running, add to the count.

Do email and SMS provider costs come on top of Courier?

Yes. Courier's billing docs are explicit that its per-send price covers Courier and that every provider you connect, whether for email, SMS, push or chat, bills you its own fees, such as a charge per SMS segment (billing docs). Its own summary says it is not an email or SMS provider and orchestrates delivery through the providers you connect (llms.txt).

That makes the provider line independent of which notification platform you pick. This page does not quote provider prices, which are SendGrid's, Amazon SES's, Twilio's and so on, and Courier does not publish them either; check your provider's per-message and per-segment rates and add them to either side. Notifly works the same way: you connect your own provider accounts, and their invoices stay with them.

What else does Courier bill for, and what does Enterprise add?

  • AI credits: $1 per 100 credits, in packs, on Business and Enterprise. They pay for AI journey nodes and AI Translation, and are billed separately from sends.
  • Device Preview: a monthly add-on that needs a card on file. Each device in a run is one preview, and included previews do not roll over. $20 includes 100, then $0.20 each; $50 includes 400, then $0.15 each; $100 includes 1,000, then $0.12 each.
  • Enterprise: volume pricing, role-based access control, observability integrations, a dedicated Slack channel and an enterprise SLA (pricing). Courier publishes no figure for it.

How does Courier's price compare with Notifly's?

The two meter different things. Courier's usage fee follows sends: one template to one recipient. Notifly prices the events you trigger, so a notification that fans out to several channels is still one event, and subscribers are unlimited on every plan. These are the plans the pricing page lists:

  • Free, $0 forever. 10,000 events per month.
  • Pro, $19/month. 50,000 events per month.
  • Team, $149/month. 500,000 events per month.
  • Enterprise, Custom. 5,000,000 events per month.

Three honest scenarios

The comparison depends on how many recipients each notification reaches. These are illustrations with the counts stated, not benchmarks. They assume one recipient per notification, and they leave out your own email, SMS and push provider charges, which both products pass through.

  • Small. At 10,000 sends or events a month, Courier Developer is $0 and Notifly Free is $0. Both are free.
  • Mid-size. At 50,000 a month, Courier Business is $250 and Notifly Pro is $19. At 500,000 it is $2,500 against Notifly Team's $149.
  • Past the largest self-serve plan. At 1,000,000 a month Courier Business is $5,000, and Courier's Enterprise rate is below that but unpublished. Notifly's largest self-serve plan, Team, covers 500,000 events, so 1,000,000 is a conversation on both sides: write to sales@notifly.io.

When is Courier the better buy?

When seats, templates or the free tier matter more than the meter. Courier charges no per-seat fee on any plan, where Notifly caps Free and Pro at three team members. Its Design Studio template editor and embeddable template designer have no Notifly equivalent. And a workspace that stays within 10,000 sends a month pays nothing on either product, so the free tiers are a wash. For the full feature comparison, see Notifly vs Courier.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Courier cost?

As of October 12, 2026, Courier's pricing page lists three plans: Developer, free with 10,000 sends a month; Business, $0.005 per send; and Enterprise, which has custom volume pricing and no published rate. Courier's billing docs say Business bills every send, including the first 10,000, so 100,000 sends a month is $500.

How much does Courier cost for high-volume email and SMS?

On Business the send bill is the number of sends times $0.005: $500 at 100,000 sends, $2,500 at 500,000 and $5,000 at 1,000,000 a month. A send is one template to one recipient, so an email and an SMS to the same person from one template are one send. Courier's Enterprise plan has volume pricing below $0.005 per send, but publishes no figure. Your email and SMS providers' own charges are separate and come on top.

Is Courier free?

Yes, within limits. Courier's Developer plan is free and includes 10,000 sends a month, journeys, broadcasts, the MCP server, the CLI, the SDKs and SSO via Google and GitHub. Adding a credit card to a workspace moves it to Business, which charges $0.005 for every send, including the first 10,000.

What counts as a send on Courier?

According to Courier's billing docs, a send is one template sent to one recipient. A template that goes out as an email, an SMS and a push is one send. A send to a list of 100 users is 100 sends. A send counts whether or not the provider delivers it, so bounced messages and messages blocked by a user's preferences count too, and so do sends from Test and custom environments.

Do I still pay for email and SMS providers on top of Courier?

Yes. Courier's billing docs say its per-send price covers Courier, and that the providers you connect, such as SendGrid or Twilio, bill you separately under their own pricing. Courier describes itself as not an email or SMS provider. The same is true of Notifly, which sends through provider accounts you connect and pay directly. Neither bill includes the other's, and neither page can quote your provider's rates, so add them to either side before comparing.

How can I reduce my Courier bill?

Courier's billing docs point to digests and batching, which combine several events into one notification, so a user gets one send instead of many. That lowers both the Courier bill and your provider costs. A broadcast to a list is the other lever: it is counted once per recipient, so 10,000 notifications to a list of 50 users are 500,000 sends, $2,500 a month.

How much does Courier Enterprise cost?

Courier does not publish it. Enterprise is listed as Custom, with volume pricing below $0.005 per send, quoted by its sales team, plus role-based access control, observability integrations, a dedicated Slack channel and an enterprise SLA.

What else does Courier bill for?

Two things on top of sends. AI credits, which pay for AI journey nodes and AI Translation on the Business and Enterprise plans, cost $1 per 100 credits, bought in packs. Device Preview is a monthly add-on that needs a card on file, in three tiers: $20 for 100 previews, then $0.20 each; $50 for 400 previews, then $0.15 each; $100 for 1,000 previews, then $0.12 each.

How does Courier's pricing compare with Notifly's?

They meter different things. Courier charges for sends: one template to one recipient. Notifly charges for events you trigger, so one event that reaches email and SMS is one event. Free is $0 forever for 10,000 events per month, Pro is $19/month for 50,000 events per month and Team is $149/month for 500,000 events per month, with unlimited subscribers on every plan. Courier has no per-seat fee, where Notifly allows three team members on Free and Pro, so if seats are your constraint Courier is the more generous of the two.
