How much does Knock cost in 2026?

Short answer. Knock costs $0 on its Developer plan and $250 a month on its Starter plan. Developer includes 10,000 messages a month; Starter includes 50,000 and then charges $0.005 per message, which makes 100,000 messages $500 a month. A message is one send to one user on one channel. Enterprise has no published price.

What are Knock's pricing plans?

Knock sells three plans. Two are priced in public; Enterprise is quoted by its sales team (pricing).

PlanPriceMessages includedBeyond the allowanceGuide active usersAI agent credits
Developer$0 a monthUp to 10,000Upgrade for additional usageUp to 500500, then $0.01 each
Starter$250 a month50,000$0.005 per message2,500, then $0.05 each2,000, then $0.01 each

Starter's $250 is a fixed platform fee; the bill grows with usage on three meters. Enterprise is described as flexible volume-based pricing, with monthly notified user pricing as an alternative (you pay on the number of unique users notified each month), annual commit discounts and a discount for high volume. Knock publishes no figure for any of them.

What does Knock's free Developer plan include, and what are its limits?

  • $0 a month. 10,000 messages, 500 guide active users and 500 AI agent credits a month, then $0.01 per extra credit (pricing).
  • No cap on the rest. Unlimited notification workflows, broadcasts, delivery channels, team members, recipients and environments, with batching and delays, built-in multi-tenancy, preferences, in-app feeds and SSO via Google.
  • What it leaves out. Removing Knock branding and email client previews begin on Starter. Message logs are kept for 30 days on Developer and Starter, and 90 days on Enterprise (pricing).
  • Messages: no hard cap, no published overage. The feature table reads “Upgrade for additional usage” against Developer's messages and guide active users, and Knock's pricing FAQ says it does not hard-cap notifications: past your limit with no billing method in place, it “will get in touch” about setting one up for the next month. It lists no per-message price for Developer, so the published route past 10,000 messages is Starter.

How does Knock's per-message pricing scale?

Starter is a $250 platform fee plus three usage meters (pricing):

  • Messages: 50,000 included, then $0.005 each. A message is a single message delivered to a single user on a single channel. An in-app message plus an email from one trigger is two. Bounces, failed sends, workflow triggers and guide views are not billed.
  • Guide active users: 2,500 included, then $0.05 each. A guide active user is a user who sees at least one in-app guide in the month.
  • AI agent credits: 2,000 included, then $0.01 each. Credits are consumed when your workflows call AI agent functions.

Worked monthly bills for messages

These are arithmetic on the published rates, with no guide active users or AI agent credits beyond what each plan includes. Up to 10,000 messages the free Developer plan covers the month; above it the table assumes Starter:

MessagesPlanPlatform feeMessage overageKnock, per month
10,000Developer$0$0$0
50,000Starter$250$0$250
100,000Starter$250$250$500
250,000Starter$250$1,000$1,250
500,000Starter$250$2,250$2,500

Fan-out is what moves the count. 100,000 notifications that each reach one user on 3 channels are 300,000 messages, which is $1,500 a month on Starter, not $500.

Meters add up. A Starter workspace with 100,000 messages, 5,000 guide active users and 5,000 AI agent credits in a month comes to $655: $250, plus $250 for the 50,000 messages above the included 50,000, $125 for the 2,500 guide active users above 2,500 and $30 for the 3,000 credits above 2,000.

Billing runs from the day you upgrade: the platform fee is invoiced at once, the same day each month after, and overage is billed in arrears on the next invoice. Your card is charged automatically, and Knock does not manage billing for downstream providers such as Postmark and Twilio, which you pay separately.

Which Knock features need the Enterprise plan?

Most of the product is on every plan, including the free one: unlimited workflows, channels, team members, environments and recipients, batching, preferences, feeds, guides and Google SSO. The feature table on Knock's pricing page reserves these for Enterprise:

  • Custom roles and permissions, and audit logs.
  • Custom SSO (SAML 2.0, Okta, Active Directory or any other SAML or OpenID provider) and directory sync (SCIM).
  • Translations (i18n), and per-tenant branding and preferences.
  • Streaming observability data to Datadog, and analytics to Segment or a data warehouse.
  • 90-day log retention instead of 30, template migration services, enterprise support and dedicated infrastructure.
  • Signed HIPAA business associate agreements (BAAs; Knock says it is HIPAA compliant) and Enterprise SLAs (the uptime row reads “Contact us”).

Developer and Starter both carry a 99.9% uptime SLA on the table, and the feature difference between them is small: Starter adds Knock-branding removal and email client previews. The substantive difference is volume: Starter includes 5 times the messages (50,000 against 10,000) and 5 times the guide active users (2,500 against 500), and it is the only plan with a published rate for going past its message allowance.

Does Knock have a free trial?

As of October 12, 2026, Knock's pricing page does not describe a trial of a paid plan. The Developer plan is listed at $0 a month with no end date, and is how it expects you to try the product first. Upgrading starts your billing cycle on that day: the platform fee is invoiced immediately and your card is charged automatically for the month's usage (pricing FAQ).

How does Knock's price compare with Notifly's?

The two meter different things. Knock's usage fee follows messages: one per user per channel. Notifly prices the events you trigger, so a notification that fans out to several channels is still one event, and subscribers are unlimited on every plan. These are the plans the pricing page lists:

  • Free, $0 forever. 10,000 events per month.
  • Pro, $19/month. 50,000 events per month.
  • Team, $149/month. 500,000 events per month.
  • Enterprise, Custom. 5,000,000 events per month.

Three honest scenarios

The comparison depends on how many channels each notification reaches. These are illustrations with the counts stated, not benchmarks, and they leave out your own email, SMS and push provider charges, which both products pass through.

  • Small and single-channel. At 10,000 messages or events a month, one channel each, Knock Developer is $0 and Notifly Free is $0. Both are free.
  • Mid-size and single-channel. At 50,000 messages or events a month, one channel each, Knock Starter is $250 and Notifly Pro is $19. At 500,000 it is $2,500 against Notifly Team's $149.
  • Fan-out across three channels. 100,000 events that each reach one user on 3 channels are 300,000 Knock messages, $1,500 a month, and 100,000 Notifly events, which Team covers at $149.

Knock publishes no Enterprise price, so there is no figure to set a very large volume against; to size one on Notifly, write to sales@notifly.io.

When is Knock the better buy?

When seats, guides or enterprise assurance matter more than the meter. Knock includes unlimited team members on every plan, including the free one, where Notifly caps Free and Pro at three. Its in-app guides product has no Notifly equivalent. Its free Developer plan keeps message logs for 30 days, where Notifly's free plan keeps 24 hours. And for a large organization that wants a vendor with a security and support organization to match, a negotiated Enterprise plan is a reasonable purchase. Frequently asked questions

How much does Knock cost?

As of October 12, 2026, Knock's pricing page lists three plans: Developer at $0 a month with 10,000 messages, Starter at $250 a month with 50,000 messages and $0.005 for each message after that, and Enterprise, which has no published price. A month of 100,000 messages on Starter comes to $500.

Is Knock free?

Yes, within limits. Knock's Developer plan costs $0 a month and includes 10,000 messages, 500 guide active users and 500 AI agent credits, with unlimited notification workflows, broadcasts, delivery channels and team members, built-in multi-tenancy, batching and delays, and SSO via Google. It keeps message logs for 30 days. Removing Knock branding and email client previews start on the Starter plan.

What counts as a message on Knock?

According to Knock's pricing FAQ, a message is a single message delivered to a single user on a single channel. A workflow that gives one user an in-app message and an email is two messages. Knock charges for messages sent, not for workflows triggered, and does not bill messages that bounce or fail to send, or messages generated by guide views. If a user's notification preferences mean nothing is sent, nothing is charged.

How much does Knock cost for 50,000, 100,000, 250,000 or 500,000 messages a month?

At Knock's published Starter rates: $250 a month at 50,000 messages, $500 at 100,000, $1,250 at 250,000 and $2,500 at 500,000, each being the $250 platform fee plus $0.005 for every message above 50,000. Guide active users and AI agent credits above Starter's allowances are billed on top. Knock sells volume-based discounts only on Enterprise.

What happens if I go over Knock's free plan limit?

Knock's pricing FAQ says it does not hard-cap your notifications: if you go over your limit without a billing method in place, it gets in touch about setting one up for the next month. It publishes no per-message price for the Developer plan, so past 10,000 messages the published way to keep sending is the Starter plan.

Does Knock have a free trial?

Not that its pricing page describes. As of October 12, 2026 the page does not mention a trial of a paid plan; the free Developer plan, listed at $0 a month with no end date, is its way to try the product before paying. When you upgrade, Knock invoices the platform fee immediately and bills any overage in arrears, charging your card automatically at the end of each month.

How much does Knock Enterprise cost?

Knock does not publish it. Enterprise is listed as Contact us, with flexible volume-based pricing, an alternative of monthly notified user pricing (billing on the number of unique users notified each month), annual commit discounts and discounts for high-volume customers. Knock's pricing FAQ says volume discounts are available only on Enterprise.

Which Knock features need the Enterprise plan?

On Knock's feature table, Enterprise is the only plan with custom roles and permissions, audit logs, custom SSO (SAML 2.0 and other providers), directory sync (SCIM), translations, per-tenant branding and preferences, streaming of observability and analytics data to Datadog, Segment or a data warehouse, 90-day log retention, template migration services, enterprise support and dedicated infrastructure. Knock signs HIPAA business associate agreements for Enterprise plan customers.

Do I still pay for email and SMS providers on top of Knock?

Yes. Knock's pricing FAQ says it does not manage billing for downstream platforms such as Postmark and Twilio, so their delivery charges are separate from Knock's. The same is true of Notifly, which sends through provider accounts you connect and pay directly.

How does Knock's pricing compare with Notifly's?

They meter different things. Knock charges for messages: one per user per channel. Notifly charges for events you trigger, so one event that reaches three channels is one event. Free is $0 forever for 10,000 events per month, Pro is $19/month for 50,000 events per month and Team is $149/month for 500,000 events per month, with unlimited subscribers on every plan. Knock includes unlimited team members on every plan, where Notifly allows three on Free and Pro, so if seats are your constraint Knock is the more generous of the two.
